DEBACLE and MACKSVILLE both run over hurdles tomorrow and both face surprisingly small fields. DEBACLE runs in the 2 mile 3 furlong novice hurdle and there are just 6 runners. He ran twice on heavy ground last winter but he is a big baby so found it quite testing. The positive from his second run which was over hurdles was that he jumped well but just didn't handle the ground. He has had a break and we think he should show a but more now on better ground. He is a big horse who is still maturing and will jump a fence one day. he has been going nicely at home so we hope he can run a respectable race tomorrow.
MACKSVILLE steps up in trip to 2 mile 6 furlongs tomorrow in a handicap hurdle and there are 7 runners. He ran very well over 2 1/2 furlongs shorter last time out and we feel he could be better over a further so this seemed the ideal race for him. We are currently open minded about his best distance but we will get a better idea of what his optimum trip is likely to be. He has come out of his last race very well so we will see how he goes tomorrow.
