Ruby Wine ready for Newbury

Thursday, August 3, 2006

RUBY WINE is in peak form and runs in the Listed Chalice Stakes at Newbury on Sunday. The way she ran at Yarmouth suggests that the step up to 12 furlongs should suit her and she was group placed over this trip last year. The winner of the Yarmouth race looks like running again and will again be hard to beat. RUBY WINE has definately improved at home since her last race and will find the trip more suitable so it should be alot closer this time. James Eustace is hoping that the rain stays away from Newbury as she definately likes fast ground.

FAST BOWLER has also improved for his first run of the season and will be in action at Newmarket on Saturday. He will be stepping up in trip to 7 furlongs from 6 and Steve Donohue will again be on board, claiming a valuable 3 pound allowance. The rain that has been around this week will help him as he would prefer good ground. INQUISITRESS will make her racecourse debut at the same meeting. She will be running in the 7 furlong 2 year old fillies maiden. She has an interesting pedigree as she out of a sprinting mare but by a staying horse, Hernando. She looks a nice filly in the making at home and has a good attitude. She should run a nice race but will probably find one or two too good for her first time out in this company.

On Monday another 2 year old, HOT CHERRY, will also be making her racecourse debut. She is a 1/2 sister to RUBY WINE and is by Bertolini. She is more of a 2 year old type than RUBY WINE and has been working nicely at home. She should run a nice race first time out but will benefit from the experience. If the ground is not too fast POCHARD could also run there in a 10 furlong maiden.
