Four Kings ready for racecourse debut

Tuesday, March 30, 2004

James is looking forward to running FOUR KINGS at Lingfield this Friday in a 5 furlong maiden race. He has high hopes for this horse and expects him to run very well as long as he is not too green. He was one of a batch of horses that went through the stalls this morning, his final bit of preparation before he makes his eagerly awaited racecourse debut . LIGHT BRIGADE is also due to run on Friday at Southwell. James will just be relieved to get him to the racecourse as he has had so many setbacks and every time he is ready to run he seems to have a problem, so fingers crossed he will get there on Friday.

TRANSACTION ran a very good race at Lingfield last Friday. He finished 3rd beaten a Head and a Neck giving weight to all the other runners. James was obviously delighted with his first 2 year old runner and this gives him a good yardstick now for the rest of the 2 year olds. TRANSACTION has come out of the race well and is entered for Windsor on Monday in a median maiden. The conditions of this race are more suitable as he will be at level weights with other colts in the race. WELCOME STRANGER is also entered at the same meeting in a 0-80 classified stakes race. James is hoping that it will rain before then as he feels this horse may be better suited to soft ground. He didn’t get any opportunity to race on a soft surface last year. James hopes he will run well and if he does his next target could be the Newbury Spring Cup, a big handicap in mid April.

Last but by no means least, Park Lodge saddle a very important runner at the Puckeridge point to point at Horseheath on Saturday. Mister Man runs in a pony race there and is due to be ridden by Big D. They came up the Al Bahatri gallop this morning, their final piece of work before the big race! We wish Mister Man and big D the best of luck in this event, it sounds as if it will be a great occasion. The trainer is worried that the jockey will blow up before the pony does, I am sure that will not be the case!
