Wester Lodge heads for Chester

Monday, June 12, 2006

WESTER LODGE has a good chance tomorrow night at Chester as long as handles the track. Chester is not usually ideal for a big horse like WESTER LODGE but he is very well balanced so James Eustace is hopeful that he will travel well round there. He is drawn 4 of the 8 runners which is ideal for him as he needs to be settled in behind horses in his races which he should be able to do from this draw. He ran well in his first race of the season at Yarmouth over a mile which is short of his best, the extra 2 furlongs tomorrow should suit him well. He likes fast ground so the going should be in his favour. Neil Callan rides him and he will be hoping for a better luck than he had an Orcadian on this course at the big May meeting

WHISTLEUPTHEWIND came very close to causing an upset at Bath yesterday. She was second beaten a neck at odds of 33-1. She seems to be improving with every run and could make a quick reappearance at Yarmouth on Thursday in a similar contest. It has not been easy to find suitable races for her as she was balloted out 6 times last month. There do at last seem to be more suitable races for her, partly helped by the fact she has gone up the handicap, but she still needs 14 horses above her in the handicap to come out of Thursday’s race before she can be guaranteed to run.
