Orcadian gallant third in Cup

ORCADIAN ran another great race today to finish third in the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup. James Eustace was delighted with his performance as he didnít put a foot wrong. He let someone else set the pace today and then took the lead in the final straight but was finally outstayed in the final 2 furlongs but held on well for third place. It was another great effort and he has now put up 2 of his best performances in the last 8 days. There is another possible race for him at Ascot on May 27th if the ground remains soft but it depends how he is after his York excursions, it may come too soon for him.

DICTATRIX did not show her true form today at all. She finished very distressed after her race. She will obviously be thoroughly checked over once she gets home. On form she should definitely have been there or thereabouts as the winner finished less than 2 lengths in front of her at Newbury and Dictatrix was meeting her on 3 pounds better terms today.

LOCAL FANCY is running in a 7 furlong fillies handicap at Newbury tomorrow and will definitely appreciate the soft ground. She ran better than her finishing position suggested last time out at Yarmouth as she did not enjoy the firm ground that day. Hopefully she will run a big race tomorrow.

The soft ground should also suit LADY GALADRIEL on Sunday at Ripon. She has been working nicely on soft ground at home so will hopefully run well but it is her first time on a racecourse. She is running in a 9 furlong maiden race.
