Ryan rides out claim on Ice Slice

Tuesday, May 3, 2016
Ryan Tate rode out his claim on ICE SLICE at Brighton today. It was great   to supply him with his final winner as a claimer as we did the same for his father, Jason, on a horse owned by Jeff Smith called INVEST WISELY  20 years ago! ICE SLICE won by 4 lengths today and made all which was totally different tactics to last time. It wasn't the original plan to make all but he broke well from the stalls and nobody else challenged for the lead. It was great to see him win in such emphatic style.
The same colours will be worn by SPA'S DANCER at Chester on Thursday. He runs in a 10 furlong handicap there and is drawn 7 of the 14 runners. Graham Lee takes the ride on him again. He  knows him well having ridden him several times before including last time out at Nottingham when he was second and also when he was fourth at Chester last year. SPA'S DANCER  has been making life hard for himself by getting left coming out of the stalls so we are trying him in cheekpieces tomorrow. We have tried them on him at home and he is come out of the stalls well so we hope they work on the racecourse. The form of his last race has worked out well, the winner was put up 13 pounds and only got beaten by a narrow margin on Saturday. The ground and the trip should be ideal for him so if the cheekpieces have the desired effect we are hopeful of another good run.
