At The Money aiming to go one better

Tuesday, May 9, 2006

AT THE MONEY has been 3rd and 2nd so far this season so aims to go one better at Nottingham on Friday. He is running in a 14 furlong handicap and James Eustace thinks the longer trip should be ideal for him as he definitely stays. He would definitely benefit from some rain but there is rain forecast this week. He is a very genuine horse who deserves to win a race, hopefully Friday could be the day.

ARIODANTE goes to Newcastle on Wednesday to contest a 51-65 rated 10 furlong handicap. He has top weight but has been dropped 9 pounds after his first run of the season. If he can regain his 2 year old form he is well handicapped and he would have an excellent chance. He did however suffer an injury last year and it sometimes takes a horse a few runs to come back to itís best. He is in good form at home so will hopefully run well.

On Thursday LOCAL FANCY makes her seasonal reappearance at Yarmouth. She is not so well handicapped and will probably need this first run. It is her first run over 7 furlongs but she definitely stayed 6 furlongs as a 2 year old so the trip should suit her. She would prefer some cut in the ground. There is an ideal race for her at Newbury on May 20th which will be her next intended target if all goes well on Thursday.

The Group 3 Ormond Stakes at Chester on Friday attracted very few entries initially so it was re opened. James Eustace has put Orcadian in this race but his participation will definitely depend on whether the ground will be soft enough. He is also in a conditions race at Newmarket on Saturday and there is a 96-110 rated Listed Handicap at Hamilton next Friday which could be an ideal race for him. The Yorkshire Cup could also come under consideration on the same day depending on the underfoot conditions.
