Orcadian reverts to the flat

ORCADIAN reverts to the flat on Friday in the Group 3 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown. He is dropping back in trip to 10 furlongs which is a bit of a gamble but James Eustace feels this particular race could suit him well. He seems better racing on right handed tracks and Sandown seems to suit front runners so it should be an ideal place to run him. The ground is good at the moment but any further rain this week would definitely help his chances. He is in good form after his winter hurdling campaign so could run a big race.

On Monday there are 3 runners at 2 different meetings. At Pontefract Highland Cascade and Ariodante make their seasonal debuts. Highland Cascade runs in a 76-90 rated 6 furlong handicap, she is working nicely at home but may find that some of the other runners will strip a bit fitter having had the benefit of a recent run. The same applies to ARIODANTE who contests a one mile 61-75 rated handicap. He has been off the course for nearly a year so will probably need the run but has been going nicely at home. WHISTLEUPTHEWIND is running in a banded race at Wolverhampton which is a drop in class for her. She looks better than this class at home so should run well as long as she can overcome a high draw. She worked well in blinkers last week so will be wearing them tomorrow. If she does happen to win there she could turn out again at Yarmouth on Thursday evening.

AT THE MONEY returns to Southwell on Tuesday. He ran well there last time out in a similar contest finishing third, tiring in the closing stages. He has definitely come on for the run. The race will be run on the turf this time which should suit him better than the fibresand surface did.
