Dictatrix aiming for black type

Monday, April 17, 2006

DICTATRIX, who won her only race as a 2 year old last year, is aiming for the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury this Saturday. She has been working nicely this spring and although she is not a Guineas filly, it would be nice to get some black type with her as she is a potential broodmare. James Eustace is hoping the ground is soft as she won on heavy ground last year and soft ground may well prevent some of the Guineas fillies from running in it. Having only run once and won she could be anything. She has had an uninterrupted spring so should be fit enough to do her herself justice on Saturday.

Today KAPIOLANI makes her racecourse debut in a maiden at Yarmouth. She is a very laid back filly at home so will definitely need the run. She is running over a mile today but will probably need further in time. Another 3 year old filly to make her racecourse debut this week is LADY GALADRIEL. She is entered in a 10 furlong fillies maiden race at Newbury on Friday. James Eustace was keen to run her on a galloping track as she is a long striding horse. She is a nice filly with a nice pedigree so she wants to have a nice introduction on Friday. She is quite a fragile filly so would not want to be subjected to hard race first time out.

FAST BOWLER is an intended runner at Ripon on Thursday in a 6 furlong handicap providing the ground improves. It is currently soft, heavy in places and would need to dry up a bit for him to run there. He has been working nicely this spring but is still a bit backward in his coat so could need the run. He won his only race as a 2 year old over 6 furlongs. The trip is a slight unknown quantity with him as he is very relaxed at home so could stay as far as a mile in time.
