First runners of the new turf season

Friday, March 31, 2006

The Turf season has now officially started but there are not many fixtures yet. James Eustace has a couple of entries next week starting at Southwell on Monday. Rather annoyingly all races at this fixture are to be run on the all weather now, apparently the turf track is waterlogged. AT THE MONEY is entered in a 3 year olds only 11 furlong handicap. He would have been suited by heavy ground on the turf but hopefully will be equally at home on the all weather but it is an unknown quantity. He is a genuine horse who should get the trip and could run well first time out.

On Tuesday WHISTLEUPTHEWIND is entered in a 6 furlong fillies maiden at Pontefract. She was disappointing on her 2 runs last year as a 2 year old but has been working nicely at home this spring. Her trainer still has faith in her and hopes she can perform much better as a 3 year old but feels she will need this first run of the season.

The rest of the string are coming on nicely and will start appearing from the middle of April onwards when there will be more suitable opportunities for them.
